Japanese garden bench

Japanese garden benchEven if you don’t think a Japanese garden bench is completely necessary for your garden, it is important that you know and understand what a Japanese garden is and what it represents.

Japanese gardens are very important to the culture of the Japanese. For them, basically all of these gardens are smaller representations of the complete nature. The purpose that most garden owners have in mind is to capture the essence of nature, but still do it with a flair for the artistic in mind.

As you look at Japanese gardens, this is very evident since there is a good deal of artwork mixed in with the natural surroundings.

The Japanese gardens have an ancient history that is heavily influenced by Shinto, Buddhist and Taoist philosophies. Each of these philosophies is used very much in the creation of the gardens. It is the hope of most of the garden owners that this influence will bring a quiet spirituality to the gardens.

This quiet spirituality is what makes these gardens so inviting as places used to meditate and ponder some of the more important questions.

The Buddhist influence in particular makes the garden a place of quiet tranquility that allows those present to look back and reflect upon their own lives and meditate about things that are larger than themselves.

There is a symbolism of peace and quiet created in these gardens. The peace is symbolized by things such as flowing water, garden plants, stones, trees, waterfalls, and bridges.

It is a common misconception that you have to have the same structure in each garden. Some believe that each Japanese garden should not deviate from all the others. That is untrue. As a matter of fact, there are a number of types of furniture – like a Japanese garden bench – from which you can choose to help create that sense of peace and tranquility.
