Your
party could go from amusing to embarrassing in the blink of an eye
if you don’t have clean outdoor
furniture. In order to avoid potential embarrassment, you should
learn how to best clean the furniture you have.
Here are a few tips that will help you learn what you can do to keep
different items of your outdoor furniture impeccably clean.
Outdoor cushions
A lot of outdoor furniture includes cushions. While cushions can
make things more comfortable, they can also make cleaning much more
difficult. All you need in order to do some good cleaning that will
allow you to keep your cushions looking good is some dishwashing detergent,
warm water and, some borax. Then follow these steps:
1. Mix the ingredients and saturate a sponge with it. Scrub the cushions
well, especially in the crevices.
2. Wash the solution off with a strong force of water. A hose often
works well.
3. Put the cushions in the sun to dry.
4. When the cushions are almost dry, take a fabric protector and
spray them.
5. Periodically pick up the cushions and knock off dust and debris
that has gathered.
White plastic
If your outdoor furniture is made of white plastic, it will show
dust and dirt fairly regularly. Because of this, your cleanings should
be regular as well. In order to clean properly, you will need one
gallon of warm water and three tablespoons of automatic dish washing
detergent.
The cleaning process is simple. Dip a sponge in the solution and
spread it around the plastic. Leave the solution on for 15 minutes,
then rinse and let it dry in the sun. If you have outdoor furniture
that is plastic and any color other than white, do not use this method.
Canvas
If your outdoor furniture is made of canvas, you might be in luck.
One of the great things about canvas outdoor furniture is the fact
that it often simply unzips. That means all you have to do is unzip
it and throw it in the washer.
If the canvas cannot be removed, the best thing to use is a scrub
brush and a bar of laundry soap. You should first run the scrub brush
across the soap. After that, you are ready to clean your outdoor furniture.
Simply scrub the canvas, rinse well, and let dry.
Doing this will do wonders for removing stains, splotches and all
other kinds of nasty imperfections that your outdoor furniture could
gather.
If your outdoor furniture is showing its age, it might be time for
some new furniture. However, before you decide on that, first decide
to give it a good clean. You may like what you see.
